Baskins Creek Falls

Baskins Creek Falls is located just outside Gatlinburg off the Cherokee Orchard Road. While Grotto Falls and Rainbow Falls garner big crowds, Baskins Creek Falls is usually a lonely place. The reason for this could be the puzzling directions to the trailhead. Here is how to find it: Leave Gatlinburg via the Cherokee Orchard Road and proceed to the Rainbow Falls/Bullhead trailheads parking area. Go just beyond this parking area and you will find a similar unmarked parking area. This is where you need to park. If you pass this parking area, you will come to the entrance for the Roaring Fork Motor Trail within a few hundred feet of the parking lot's exit. Remember, Cherokee Orchard is a narrow road and one way at this point and backing up, even for a few yards, may not be possible  when there is a line of SUV's behind you. Assuming you have parked, there is a trailhead at the back of the parking area which leads left to Trillium Gap (and Grotto Falls) which is used in the Winter or whenever Roaring Fork Motor Trial is closed. To get to the Baskins Creek Trailhead, walk up the Roaring Fork Motor Trail a couple hundred yards until you see a trail and hopefully a sign on the left. Hike about 1 1/2 miles to the Falls. Perhaps you understand why it isn't one of the mainstream Park locations now.
