My Visit to Cumberland Island November 1997
These are ruins of Dungeness, the vacation home of Thomas Carnegie, brother of Andrew Carnegie. He acquired the property in 1881. At his death in 1886, his wife Lucy became owner. The house survived the Gilded Age but fell into disrepair in the early part of the 20th century and later burned.
