Mount Cammerer

Near Cosby in the GSMNP is Mt Cammerer. A fire lookout was built here and has been recently restored. This is an excellent destination. At 3000+ foot in elevation gain, it is not an easy hike. Starting at the Cosby campground on Low Gap Trail is the route we followed. It was a long haul to the gap, but once there, the AT was a great hiking trail, fairly level and very picturesque. A spur lead to the lookout.

A great spot to picnic.

Almost hidden in the tree is I-40.
