Fire ring on top of Little Pilot
The Uwharrie Mountain range is set in the middle of the North Carolina Piedmont. Its easternmost hills are found from Burlington to Ramseur. Little Pilot Mountain is a short distance south of Ramseur and is visible for some distance. Just over 900' in elevation it juts up 300' from the surrounding farmland. Churches and water towers in Ramseur can be seen from the top. Looking in the other direction the Zoo's African Pavilion is the most notable landmark. A couple of Asheboro churches, Oakie Mountain and the fire tower on Dave's Mountain in Asheboro are also visible.
